I purchased four omni wheels to help me design and make a ball balancing robot, as seen in my profile image They worked brilliantly! https://techknowtone.co.uk/Projects/P/BallBot-4x4-ESP32/ballbot-4x4-esp32.html

I ordered a Third Hand, Solarspeeder 2 kit and Photopopper Photovore kit. I'm still waiting for delivery of the Third Hand. The Solarspeeder 2 and Photopopper Photovore were fairly straightforward to assemble. The Solarspeeder 2 needs to be on a slight downward slope in bright sunlight to be self-propelled. The Photopopper Photovore needs a better method than some heat-shrink tubing attached to the two motor shafts to propel itself on a level surface. The motors on both 'robots' work as expected in sunlight, but the details of converting their rotation to forward motion of the 'robots' need some redesign.

I recently ordered a "Herbie the Mousebot" kit from Active Robots. I've previously assembled many mobile robot kits, so didn't anticipate the problems I've experienced assembling Herbie. The Herbie PCB first has to be separated into three parts - a wedge-shaped 'base' and two 'wings' . The Herbie battery board is used to hold the wings at the correct angles relative to the base. The long edges of the wings and base need to be soldered together and to the battery board, to firmly secure the assembly. The first problem I experienced was that the power switch fell apart when I soldered it to the back of the base. The battery board is meant to hold a standard 9V battery in place between the two motors, but when I tried securing a standard Duracell 9V battery to the board, it wouldn't fit into the space available between the motors. I tried several other brands of 9V battery but none would fit between the motors. The instructions say "If you have to wedge the battery between the motors to make it fit, that's ok - it will help keep the battery securely in place." Unfortunately, wedging the battery between the motors would necessitate breaking the solder joints holding the PCB wings to the base. Herbie the Mousebot was manufactured in Canada (where I was born), but I can't recommend a robot that I can't fit a battery into.

Absolutely great people to work with, had an issue with a faulty product and they sorted it out quickly and professionally, recommended and will use again in the future - needed a somewhat hard to find LED controller card to refit an aircraft part for a sim and these guys had it!
