Hamamatsu Proximity Detector
This light modulation photo IC was developed for optical synchronous detection under disturbance background light.
With a built in pulse driver circuit and sync detector they are useful as a wide-angle proximity detector or for non-contact bump sensing.
A photodiode, preamplifier, comparator, oscillator, LED driver and signal processing circuit, etc. are all integrated on a monolithic photo IC chip.
Optical synchronous type photoreflectors and photointerrupters, which less susceptible to disturbance background light, can be easily configured by just connecting an external LED to this photo IC.
The unique circuit design achieves an allowable background light level of 10000 lx Typ. S4282-51, S6986, S10053/-01DT) and a minimum detection level of 0.2 μW/mm² typ. (S6809, S684, S7136/-10)
The pulse driver modulates the output of an external LED (not included). The LED will illuminate the target with modulated light; reflected light in sync with the output is detected by the S6986, making detection relatively insensitive to ambient lighting.
