Active Robots is proud to introduce our new AR10 Robotic Hand which features 10 degrees of freedom (DOF) that are servo actuated within the hand’s envelope, advanced user interface and extendable design.

Whilst originally designed to fit onto the SawyerBaxter Research Robot the compact AR10-Hand design means it may be fitted onto many different robot arms. The AR10 Robotic Hand provides a complete solution for researchers and can be used across a variety of systems and interfaces to provide researchers and educators alike with a versatile, low cost platform.

Human Like Design

Creating an innovative, low cost hand platform which can be used for humanoid hand grasping research has been our goal during design of the AR10 Humanoid Hand. The hand is based on the average size of an adult male which brings a whole range of practical benefits when being used for real life research and simulation.

Fully customisable and Expandable

3D printed fingertips are interchangeable and customisable so users can change the shape and size of each individual fingertip to suit a wide variety of applications and increase the dexterity of the AR10 hand. It is also possible to expand and add external 3rd party hardware such as tactile sensors either through retrofitting or by printing your own fingertips using open source 3D printing files.

Advanced Interfacing and Connectivity

The AR10 Hand has been designed specifically for the Baxter Research Robot & Sawyer Smart Collaborative Robot but also works as a standalone user platform. Interfacing is possible via USB or Serial connectivity to Windows, Linux, Arduino and many more platforms giving all users a wide range of choice for their preferred system. The hand will be fully integrated with ROS with Open Source control software so you can customise and control your hand to suit your needs.

Power, Precision and Reliability

Manufactured with a plastic-metal hybrid construction for lightness, combined with strength and durability provided by the advanced Firgelli linear actuators the AR10 hand is a force to be reckoned with. Anodised aluminium provides the perfect blend of strength-to-weight ratio coupled with advanced 3D printed components to provide a sleek, refined finish to really make the AR10 Hand stand out from the crowd.
