Hamamatsu Flame Sensor
UV TRON® R2868

The Hamamatsu UVTron bulb is a great sensor for detecting a flame. This is typically coupled with to a drive circuit to measure photons in the UV spectrum associated with open flames and fire.

This Hamamatsu detector is very sensitive in the 185-260nm range. It is ideally suited to the detection of flames, candles, and other sources of UV radiation in this range.

The Hamamatsu C3704 Drive Circuit is an ideal choice for driving this detector. We offer both together as a package.

Typical Applications:

  • Flame detection for gas/oil lighters and matches
  • Fire alarms
  • Combustion monitors for burners
  • Inspection of ultraviolet leakage
  • Detection of discharge
  • Ultraviolet switching

Hamamatsu UV TRON®
Driving Circuit

The Hamamatsu drive circuit has been specifically designed to drive the Hamamatsu R2868 Flame Detector This circuit uses little energy (~3mA, Typ.) and contains all the necessary high voltage electronics, drive circuitry, noise canceling, and signal processing needed when using the R2868 detector.

The output from this circuit is a 10ms pulse. This pulse can be changed in length and background noise cancelation can be adjusted. The output optionally can drive a 100mA load at 50V such as a relay or buzzer.

Hamamatsu UV TRON® Flame Detector Package

The detector package includes both the Hamamatsu C3704 Drive Circuit and the R2868 Flame Detector. Combined, these offer outstanding perfomance when looking for sources of UV radiation in the 185 - 260 nm range.

This detector is marvelous. Using the included drive circuit, you can detect a match lighting from 5 meters in a bright sunny room! Since the UV energy emitted by a flame is reflected off walls, you don't need to have line of sight to the flame to detect it in a room.

Hamamatsu S6986 Proximity Detector

Hamamatsu Proximity Detector

Light sensor with built in pulse driver circuit and sync detector. Useful as a wide-angle proximity detector or for non-contact bump sensing.

The pulse driver modulates the output of an external LED (not included). The LED will illuminate the target with modulated light; reflected light in sync with the output is detected by the S6986, making detection relatively insensitive to ambient lighting.

Hamamatsu Encoder Module

The P10210 is an an optical encoder module that consists of a photo IC and red LED. The photo IC incorporates a 4-element photodiode and a 2-phase digital signal output circuit.

When using 0.2mm pitch slits, P10210 produces a 2-phase digital signal output matching the slit movement.
