Wheel Encoder Module

The wheel encoder module uses the low voltage Hamamatsu P5587 infrared photoreflector sensor to sense black to white transitions on a wheel.

These modules require +5V and GND to power them, and provide a 0 to 5V output. They provide +5V output when they "see" white, and a 0V output when they "see" black.

Your microcontroller can simply read the 0-5-0V pulse train produced from the white to black transitions on the wheel to determine how far and how fast your robot has traveled.
